When the Ferguson grand jury announced its decision, the internet went haywire.
Shortly after, the New York Daily News released the mock-up of its front page:
Twitter quickly spoke out about it:
This is what left wing media engaging in race-baiting to incite riots and other mob violence looks like. —> pic.twitter.com/WkTmLRecFM

The cover from tomorrow's Daily News is exactly why the media bears responsibility for fueling these riots. #Ferguson pic.twitter.com/QHoUqrf0oM

This is apparently the real NY Daily News Tuesday front page. Not false, but amazingly biased. http://t.co/eqmHTnHlY0

Fueling the animosity: The NY Daily News, shamefully plans to release a false narrative on its cover page. pic.twitter.com/zszPPH2tGI

The publication heard the Twitter-sphere and decided to take a different direction from its controversial “mock-up:”
Deleted that much-retweeted tweet. Was a mock up for first edition that has since changed. Carry on.

The replacement cover still voiced concern over the national tragedy, but the original stance on the issue will ‘carry on’ for many readers.
But technically, the cover on the left is more accurate, no? http://t.co/JK4uPjdKfK pic.twitter.com/5QV4EgUk0J

@NYDailyNews I've read the news for 40+ years but after you decide to write "killer cop" on your cover to incite, I'll never read it again.

Regardless of the cover change, it illustrates the delicate situation resulting from last night’s announcement, as well as the strong, unfaltering and often divisive opinions surrounding it.
