Rick Perry fired back after being indicted by a Texas grand jury by directly and aggressively countering the charges.
The abuse of power charges against the Texas governor stem from his refusal to give $7.5 million dollars to a program run by Travis Country District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg. Perry wielded his constitutionally authorized veto power to pressure the DA to resign. Lehmberg did not.
If convicted of an actual crime, Perry could see significant jail time. Until then, Perry is refusing to back down.
