Just How Many Times Barack Obama Said Me, Myself & I in Latest Speech Broke the Narcissism Index

For President Obama, it’s all about… President Obama.

In a 40-minute speech in which he promised to use unilateral, executive action, the President referred to himself – “I,” “me,” and “my” – 199 times, CNS News reports. That’s once every 12 seconds.

And though he referred to himself so often, the 5,500-word speech, given in Austin, was more of a laundry list of complaints directed at the Republican Party than a speech touting his own achievements.

via CNS News:

“I can’t stand by with partisan gridlock that’s the result of cynical political games that threaten the hard work of millions of Americans,” said Obama. “I’m not just going to stand by and say, okay, that’s–I guess that’s the way it is. Whenever and wherever I have the power, the legal authority to help families like yours, even if Congress is not doing anything, I will take that opportunity.”

In comparison, Obama’s favorite President – Abraham Lincoln – delivered the Gettysburg Address using only 272 words, and didn’t refer to himself once.

Some people run for office because they believe their experience will best serve their country. And other people run for office because they believe their country will best serve themselves. Can we guess which category Obama falls into?
