We’re not really in the habit of yelling “racist!” at everything that has the slightest tinge of racial distinction, but in this case, well… it actually is kinda bad.

If it’s not clearly readable, the sign says:
“KC CHIEFS” WILL SCALP THE REDSKINS
FEED THEM WHISKEY
SEND – 2- RESERVATION
So yeah. Not the best sign to show your appreciation for diverse cultures and their unique struggles in our nation. Especially since, yes, Native Americans (unfortunately) have a much higher incidence of alcoholism than non-Native Americans, and they’re (rightfully) a little sensitive about that whole reservation thing. I won’t even explain the scalping thing.
After this got some play on social media, Sonic apologized.
The Kansas City Star reports that a manager at the restaurant, who was not named, said the sign was inexcusable and wrong.
Patrick Lenow, vice president of public relations at Sonic, told NBC News that the sign was created by an employee who is “known for creative use of his signs,” but that this sign was done “in poor taste.”
@TFGibby The sign was taken down shortly after it was posted. Again, we do not condone this type of language and are deeply sorry.

Yeah. Might want to keep that “creative” employee on mop duty for a while.
