Hollywood Icons Show Support for Dead Socialist Hugo Chavez
This is… awkward. Multi-millionaire actors, producers and directors have been mourning the recent death of Hugo Chavez, who rose to power in poverty-stricken Brazil and amassed a fortune of $2 billion.
Nothing like supporting the American Dream that got you where you are, right fellas? Here are the obligatory dumb quotes so far, starting with multi-millionaire director Oliver Stone, who tweeted this:
Hated by the entrenched classes, Hugo Chavez will live forever in history. My friend, rest finally in a peace long earned. 2/2— Oliver Stone (@TheOliverStone) March 6, 2013
Multi-millionaire director Michael Moore:
Hugo Chavez declared the oil belonged 2 the ppl. He used the oil $ 2 eliminate 75% of extreme poverty, provide free health & education 4 all— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) March 6, 2013
Multi-millionaire actor Sean Penn:
“Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion,” Penn said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela.”
That’s right, clowns. It’s much better for the government to seize the assets of the country and dole it out to the perpetual poor than to have a free economy where nearly anyone who wants to succeed can improve his own life and make it to the top. Hypocrites, all of them.
