Professional athletes and commentators come from all political persuasions, and many do not openly wear their party affiliation on their sleeves. Sports is competitive business and is one of the most culturally significant aspects of American life. Inevitably, athletes are claimed by both sides as supporters of their political causes, so one has to be extremely careful placing anyone in a box.

Thus, any list of Republican and conservative sports stars cannot lay claim to any person’s political loyalties without the qualification that people sometimes change their opinions. But if one checks political donations, interviews, lists, analyses and history, one finds many famous athletes and sports personalities who can persuasively be described as conservative or Republican.
