Sex, Lies, and Benghazigate

General David Petraeus is a decorated four-star general who has served his country well, and unfortunately for his career and his personal life, he had an extra-marital affair. The nation’s top spy is out as CIA director; as well he should be due to the sensitive nature of his work and the danger of blackmail by foreign interests.

Since the September 11th, 2012 terrorist attacks, the Benghazi scandal had been blowing up across non-Democrat media outlets. When JINOs (journalists-in-name-only) were scrambling frantically for someone in the administration to throw under the Obama re-election bus, the names of Hillary Clinton and General David Petraeus came up.

Hillary Clinton took the blame in an interview almost a month after the attacks, while General Petraeus stated that the necessarily implied “stand down” order for special ops not to intervene in the planned eight-hour terrorist raid at the Benghazi mission did not come from the CIA.

The blood of four Americans thus looked to be on President Obama’s hands. The administration was notified by email of the attack within minutes, and shortly thereafter U.S. Ambassador Stevens was murdered. The nation’s Commander-in-Chief then jetted off to a Vegas fundraiser as two men in Benghazi were about to get killed by mortar fire. Their deaths happened a little over seven hours after the raid began, according to the released CIA timeline.

After Petraeus refused to take the fall for the administration by saying, “No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate,” the FBI and Petraeus himself sat on the knowledge of the affair until just days after the election. Then the affair was made public the Friday after the election results were finalized, conspicuously right before Petraeus was set to testify under oath on the Benghazi scandal. With Petraeus now gone, news emerged that the nation’s top spy had performed his own investigation at Benghazi, and the Senate Intelligence Committee is threatening to issue a subpoena for the information in the report in the wake of the sex-scandal drama.

So, Americans are now supposed to believe that the head of the nation’s intelligence service was under FBI investigation for nearly six months, Obama knew nothing about it, and right after the election this seedy scandal involving the one guy who can damage his administration is made known to the public, the media and the president, all for the first time?

If CIA director Petraeus was suddenly not fit for service the day after the election, what made him fit for service in the six months prior? There are many questions that remain unanswered; the American people deserve better.
