'Pray for Obama' sign under fire from Secret Service

| On 02, Sep 2012

In the US, citizens are allowed to speak freely, challenging the ideal of the status quo.  This is one of the most important constitutional liberties that keeps America the home of the free.  It is because ‘We the People’ are allowed to hold our politician’s feet to the fire, through dialogue and the spreading of ideas.

However, during this new American era, you are told to be quiet if you say something offensive.  KENS5.com out of San Antonio, TX reports on a ‘Pray for Obama’ sign that has caused a stir:

The Secret Service is looking into a sign posted in Victoria, Texas.

The sign says “Pray for Obama”, but it’s the scripture quoted below those words that is raising eyebrows: Psalms 109:8.

Psalms 109:8 reads, “Let his days be few, and let another take his office.”

Nowadays, anything that could possibly resemble a threat (whether, physical or political) that gets flagged by the Secret Service.  A better bible verse may have been more appropriate …but this sure seems like intimidation to begin with.

The most annoying part about this story?

But some people say it is hateful and inappropriate. They say it misuses the holy scripture and it must come down.”

So, now that people don’t like what the individual has to say, he or she must now be silenced and the 1st Amendment suspended?  Hitler or Stalin would have been lucky to have these folks on board.
