Former Alabama Democratic Representative Artur Davis, who also co-chaired Obama’s 2008 campaign and seconded his nomination at the convention, has basically done a full turnaround; he now officially supports Romney and will be a speaker at the Republican National Convention.
Angered by Joe Biden’s comments, Davis told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer:
I know what Joe Biden was doing yesterday and every black person in the room knew who the y’all was, they knew what the chains were about, knew what the metaphor was. And I will give that audience credit… It’s a divisive tactic that’s insulting to African-Americans, it’s insulting to the American people, it’s an insult to the legacy that he used to build up as an orator that used to inspire people … and it ought to embarrass President Obama.”
Davis can no longer handle the Obama campaign he says is based on “anger” and “hate.” As the Washington Post put it, Davis plans to speak at the convention for Americans who “traced a path from hope to disillusionment.”
This guy was an outspokenly avid supporter of O just 4 years ago. He said watching Obama become nominated “tells us everything that is right about my country.”
This is the cause for which we stand: An American president named Barack Obama, who will lead and inspire the Free World,” Davis said then. “An American president named Barack Obama, who will stand for the rule of law, who will remember that torture is the way of the people who hate us, and not our way.”
He may not have found the ‘Hope’ he wanted, but he certainly got some ‘Change.’ At a time when Obama’s numbers are slipping, Davis could become a huge asset for the GOP, but only if the media allows him to be. Will that happen? Tough to say, but I bet the effect will be minimal; Obama will casually shrug it off and the media will follow suit. BUT, if Davis has the ability to influence just a few fence-sitters in swing states, he will have been a huge help.
In order for that to happen, make sure you click SHARE to let your friends know that this former Obama supporter knows he can’t find ‘Hope’ and the only thing that’s seen ‘Change’ is his party affiliation.
