Guns can save people, and they often do.

According to a CBS affiliate, just this past week in Arizona, a 14-year-old boy shot an intruder who had pointed a gun at him.

The teen was watching his three younger siblings, ages 8, 10, and 12, while his parents were out. During the middle of the afternoon on Friday, a woman rang the doorbell but the teen did not open the door because he did not recognize her. Shortly thereafter, the teen heard a loud noise at the door, quickly corralled his siblings into an upstairs bedroom, and grabbed a gun.

When he got back to the stairs, he saw a man break in the door and point a gun at him, and he proceeded to shoot the intruder, sending the criminal to the hospital in extremely critical condition. The intruder is expected to survive.

Guns are a fundamental part of our country; so is education. With sufficient education on the handling and usage of firearms, guns are a good thing. Anyone who disagrees can feel free to attempt to justify what could have happened to these four children had the boy not properly used the gun to defend himself and his family.
